So damn enjoyable!
By Kev Rowland - England
(Feedback #88) It is hard to decide where to categorise this but I know that quite a few people mention Alan Parsons when they talk about Alain and I can see where that is coming from. This is an album that is all based on songs, and loads of strong melodies and hooks. Given that he has recorded this basically by himself there is a strong sense of self-control and the music is always working to emphasise the songs and the vocals instead of being extended solos just in their own right. The first time I played this I hit the repeat as soon as it had finished, and I have found myself returning to it quite often over the last month. Alain has a good voice, but knows his limitations so tends to sing in the mid range and this works very well indeed. He has an interesting site where you can listen to snippets of material and this is an artist for fans of good music to discover. Let's hope that it isn't so long until the next one.
On my top 10 list this year!
By Bernt Oterholt - NorwayIf you hate songs that stay stuck in your head for days, months and years you may want to stay away from this album! All the songs on this album will haunt you. I got aware of Alain's MySpace page www.myspace.com/alainpernot some time ago and the first song that cought my attention was "Lucky Day"... Hit Potential! And the song was stuck for days, I just had to have that CD and the first thing I do whenever I meet new people is to recommend this CD! I mean everyone I play it to gets hooked! Everyone from my Daughter; 5 years old to my father; 60 years old! From jazzists to Metalheads! And if that wasn't enough, Alain told me this record was recorded on home studio equipment. I couldn't believe it at all ... It's by far hands down the best home produced album ever! I'm giving this album a score 9/10 (that said I have never given any album 10/10 score) It's hard to really give you any hints on this CD But to forward a few songs... Lucky Day: Happy, jumpy, fresh air!! You immediately sing along on this one! U R so 4 me: Beautiful harmonic song, gives me the chills. Love is everywhere: One of my favorites, all though it's hard to pick a few songs. This guy just has it! Harmonic and soft voice mixed with the ability to produce the most beautiful chords and harmonies! And the best of it all ... you would hear it's Alain Pernot from a mile away! I really, really hope we get to hear more from Alain Pernot! And I will urge you all to get the CD! Please check his Myspace page for soundbytes of the CD It's highly recommended! The CD is on my top 10 list this year!! |
